Ingredients

  • 1.50 oz bacon-infused bourbon
  • 1 oz maple simple syrup
  • Squeeze of orange juice
  • Dash of Angostura Bitters
  • Ice
  • Cooked bacon slice and orange rind, to garnish

Instructions

  1. To make bacon-infused bourbon, cook 6-8 rashers of fatty bacon until fully cooked. Collect the fat and add approximately 1/4 cup melted bacon fat to 1 cup bourbon in a lidded jar. Seal and shake well. Leave for four hours to infuse, then place in the freezer overnight. Remove from freezer and spoon off solidified fat. Strain the liquid through a coffee filter into a clean jar. It will last for up to a year when refrigerated.
  2. For the maple simple syrup, combine 1 cup maple syrup and 1 cup water in a small pot, and heat until combined. Allow it to cool.
  3. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the bacon-infused bourbon, maple simple syrup, and a squeeze of orange juice. Shake well.
  4. Strain the mixture into an ice-filled glass and add a couple of drops of Angostura Bitters.
  5. Garnish with a slice of cooked bacon fashioned into a rosette, held together with a cocktail skewer, and a twist of orange rind.
