Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 4 ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped
- 1 1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- Pinch of kosher salt
- 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1-1.50 ounces bourbon
- Mini marshmallows or whipped cream, for serving
- To rim the glass (optional)
- 1 tablespoon corn syrup
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped pecans
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, bring the milk to a simmer, whisking occasionally to prevent boiling.
- Add in the finely chopped chocolate, sugar, and salt, and cook, whisking frequently until the mixture is smooth, creamy, and the chocolate is fully melted (about 5 minutes).
- Stir in the bourbon and vanilla extract, adjusting the bourbon amount based on personal preference.
- Optionally, rim the glasses by dipping the rim into corn syrup and then into the chopped pecans.
- Pour the hot chocolate into prepared mugs and top with mini marshmallows or whipped cream.
