Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • Zest of 1/2 orange
  • 1 lemon wedge, notched in the center
  • 1 1/2 oz bourbon
  • 1 1/2 oz Grand Marnier (can substitute Cointreau)
  • 1 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 3/4 oz maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar and orange zest in a mortar and pestle or spice grinder, blend until the zest is finely chopped and mixed into the sugar.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a plate.
  3. Run the lemon wedge around half the rim of a coupe or cocktail glass to moisten.
  4. Invert the glass and dip the edge into the orange sugar to coat, then set aside.
  5. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine bourbon, Grand Marnier, lemon juice, and maple syrup.
  6. Shake until chilled, about 30 seconds.
  7. Strain the mixture into the prepared glass and enjoy.
