Ingredients

  • 1 stick (4 oz) unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp ground allspice
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 oz dark or aged rum
  • 6 oz hot water
  • Cinnamon stick, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, blend together butter, vanilla extract, brown sugar, spices, and salt until well combined.
  2. In a heat-proof glass or mug, combine 2 oz of dark rum with 1 oz (2 tbsp) of the spiced butter mixture. Store the remaining batter in an airtight container in the refrigerator for future use.
  3. Top the mixture with 6 oz of hot water and stir until well incorporated.
  4. Optionally, garnish with a cinnamon stick.
