Ingredients
- 1/4 cup Roundy's milk
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 3/4 large Roundy's egg yolks, beaten
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Smidge & Spoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon brandy, rum, or bourbon (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, heavy cream, beaten egg yolks, sugar, and nutmeg.
- Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and coats a spoon. (Do not let it boil.)
- Remove from heat and place the pan in a bowl with ice, stirring the mixture for 2 minutes to cool it down.
- Add the vanilla extract and brandy, rum, or bourbon if desired, and stir well.
- Refrigerate until chilled.
