Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup cranberries (4 oz)
- 1 cup red wine (such as shiraz)
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 bag of Mulling Spice
- fine mesh sieve & paper towels
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine water and cranberries. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for about 25 minutes until the cranberries have softened and "popped."
- Strain the cranberry juice through a fine mesh sieve, pressing the berries to release all the juice. Discard the berries.
- Strain the juice again through a paper towel-lined sieve to remove any remaining seeds.
- Return the juice to the saucepan and add the red wine, sugar, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until the sugar has dissolved, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and add the mulling spice bag, steeping for 3-5 minutes. Taste and adjust the spice level as desired.
- Serve warm or cold and enjoy. Store any leftovers in a sealed container in the fridge and reheat when ready to enjoy.
