Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup cranberry and pomegranate juice
  • 2 oz vodka
  • Seeds of 1/4 pomegranate
  • Edible violets, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, dissolve the sugar in 1 cup of water, then simmer for 10 minutes until slightly reduced. Transfer to a bowl and let it cool slightly.
  2. Stir in the cranberry and pomegranate juice, then pour the mixture into a 2-cup container and freeze overnight until solid.
  3. Scrape the frozen granita with a fork into crystals and set aside.
  4. Pour the vodka into a serving glass, and top with the prepared granita.
  5. Garnish with pomegranate seeds and edible violets.
