Ingredients
- 1/4 habanero pepper (remove seeds for less spice)
- 2 oz. tequila
- 3/4 whole grapefruit
- 1/4 whole lime
- 1/2 oz. grand marnier
- 1 oz. freshly squeezed lime juice
- Pinch of sea salt
- Pinch of cayenne
Instructions
- Cut the habanero pepper in half. Remove the seeds if you prefer milder heat.
- In a sealed container, combine the habanero slices and tequila, and let it infuse for at least three hours.
- Slice three grapefruits in half and place five of the halves on a baking sheet. Broil them for about 10 minutes until the skins are charred and the flesh is slightly shriveled.
- While the grapefruit is roasting, slice the remaining grapefruit half and the lime.
- Once the broiled grapefruits have cooled, juice them and refrigerate the juice until it's completely chilled.
- In a shaker, combine 1 oz. grapefruit juice, 1 1/2 oz. habanero tequila, 1/2 oz. grand marnier, and 1 oz. lime juice.
- Pour the mixture into an ice-filled glass rimmed with sea salt and cayenne. Add sliced grapefruit and lime.
- Repeat the process for the remaining tequila and grapefruit juice.
