Sumac Saffron Sparkler
A refreshing and mildly tart cocktail, infused with saffron and sumac, offering a delightful sensory experience.
Ingredients
- 5 to 7 saffron strands, plus extra for garnish
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1 tablespoon ground sumac
- 3/4 cup chilled club soda or water
- Ice
Instructions
- Grind the saffron with 2 tablespoons of sugar to a fine powder using a mortar and pestle.
- In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, combine 1/4 cup water, sugar, cardamom, and powdered saffron mixture, bringing it to a simmer and stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Remove from heat and stir in the ground sumac. Cover the saucepan with a lid and let it steep for 30 minutes. Strain the liquid through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl and chill before serving.
- Fill a tall glass with ice. In a separate pitcher, stir the syrup with the chilled club soda or water. Pour the drink into the glass.
- Garnish with a few saffron strands and enjoy!
